Hired to deploy Active Directory and Exchange
2000 to 21,000 users. The network operating systems and mail
systems were varied between a variety of platforms. In a
period of less than 9 months we consolidated 8 mail systems,
including mainframe, Unix, and two versions of Exchange onto
a single Exchange 2000 deployment in one directory. Often
times during the migration there were no readily available
commercial tools for doing the migration so frequently I had
to write my own tools for migrating the users accounts from
the old platform to the new. The project was completed on budget
a month ahead of schedule.
Presently I am working to scale our Active
Directory forest to accomidate 2 million user objects using
Netegrity SiteMinder and IdentityMinder for authentication
and access control to our IBM WebSphere Portal. Over the
next five years the number of object could grow to as great as
10 million user objects.
At this point I have been sucessful in intergrating
PeopleSoft to Active Directory. Also have assitted in re-writing
several Java and ColdFusion applications that used a Netscape
iPlanet directory previously to use Active Directory. Thus far
our team as eliminated the first of the 30+ NT4 domains that are
being consolidated into Active Directory.

Chief Technical Officer

Hired as a Sr. Systems Engineer to assist with
the planning and deployment of Microsoft Active Directory
while concurrently moving the previous network operations
center to a new data center. Applying knowledge gained from
working in IBM data centers I assisted in the design of the
primary and backup electrical systems as well as HVAC and
waterless fire suppression for the new data center. During
the period surrounding the move I and my fellow engineers
designed and successfully implemented multiple Active
Directory forests and trees, some supporting over 1500
remote users.
I soon realized that security practices were
undocumented, unreliable and basically self-regulated among
the engineering staff so I set about the task of writing a
document that would govern all matters that were security
related. The resulting twenty page document became the
foundation for all security practices in the organization
and was essential to our successful passage of two
independent third party audits by companies such as KPMG,
LLP's IRM Practice. Well-documented procedures and
adherence to them became one of engineering greatest
strengths and a key component of our success during my
tenure as Security Manager.
Because of corporate downsizing our team was cut
in half and shortly thereafter I was promoted to the Data
Center Team Leader and later CTO. I began implementing
procedures and automating processes that allowed the help
desk to become more efficient thus relieving the burden from
engineering. While running on half the staff of before we
continued to grow our network and customer base. Prior to my
leaving we were negotiating a deal to host 4500 additional
remote users using only the current five engineers.
